Hi, I’ve been teaching in PA for the last three years and am planning on moving to the Las Vegas area to teach for the Clark County School District for the upcoming school year (07-08).

Where is a good rental place that is safe, affordable, and within 30 minutes of the school system? I’m assuming my monthly cleared income is going to be around 2000 a month, and I have a 440 car payment and 300 student loan payment, so I’d like to have a little bit of money to live and relax on.

If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated, I’m looking forward to moving out to the area at 26 and hope there’s a lot more there for me than here! Thanks so much for your time!

My husband’s company is talking about moving out to Las Vegas in a year (or so) and we need to decide if we want to move out there or stay here.

Questions:

(1) What are the nice areas to live in, middle areas, and bad areas (that we should avoid)?

(2) What are the schools like in the middle/nice areas?

(3) How is the economy? Is it easy to find technical work (I’m a DBA/Data Analyst and I’ll need to find a job)?

(4) Is it easy to find rental property (short term - 6 months to a year until we decide on a house to buy)?

There will be 3 of us traveling out of STL. We are wanting to stay preferably at a lower priced strip hotel or possibly downtown. It’s too early to see specials online at the individual properties, so hopefully someone in yahooland can give us some ideas as to how low the specials may go. We will be leaving STL on Sunday, and returning to STL on Friday (5 nights). Any help would be appriciated!
